PROBATE

PROBATE

Probate is a process that is often required after someone dies. If you have been named as the administrator of a deceased person’s estate, you will need guidance and assistance from an attorney to fulfill your responsibilities and ensure that all requirements are met.

About Probate

When someone dies and leaves behind a will, probate will begin with the will’s validation by the court. The probate process will not be complete until the court has named an estate administrator and the estate administrator has carried out several tasks. Some of these tasks include:

  • Informing creditors and heirs of the deceased person’s passing.
  • Taking inventory of the deceased person’s property.
  • Using assets from the estate to pay the deceased person’s debts.
  • Distributing remaining property to heirs based on instructions in the will.
